5 perfect places to enjoy a picnic

One of our earlier blogs gave you advice on what to pack for a picnic so we thought we’d follow that up with suggestions of where to go to enjoy your sandwiches and pork pies. Here’s a list of places you might want to place a rug and pop the cork on a bottle of bubbly.

  1. Avon Valley Country Park: You’ll be spoilt for choice for picnic spots if you pack a hamper and head to this pretty 50 acre park in Bristol. It has peaceful riverside trails and countless pretty little picnic areas where you can savour the delights of the surrounding area.
  2. Barafundle Beach: Head to this quiet little beach in Wales and you’ll find sand dunes ready to welcome you with open arms. There are rock pools to keep the little ones happy and this really is an undiscovered charm, it’s no wonder it’s known as the best-kept secret in Pembrokeshire.
  3. Horniman Gardens: Escape the hustle and bustle of London city life and take a trip to the Horniman Museum to visit the 16-acre garden. Spend some time munching on your picnic whilst listening to music from the bandstand during the summer months then take the kids inside the museum afterwards.
  4. Brownsea Island: Dorset is the place to find Brownsea Island, head to Poole harbour and you’ll discover this wonderful nature reserve. There’s a wonderful cliff-top walk that gives you plenty of opportunity to sit down with a picnic when you like.
  5. Ragley Hall: Warwickshire this time to spend a few hours in the gardens of the home to the Marquess and Marchioness of Hertford. It’s been their stately home for 350 years and it’s a great place to take the family and a picnic, so fire up the sat-nav and pack the hamper in the car!
